The Nigerian Army says it did not suffer any major attack on its military base in the northeastern part of the country from by Boko Haram militants.

The militants were reported to have wrecked havoc in the attack on Sunday following hours of exchange of gunfire between them and the soldiers.

Sunday’s attack according to local media is the second in days after a similar attack on Saturday. Some soldiers were also reported to have gone missing.

But on Monday the Army in a statement said “the report is not only untrue but misleading as the said report is blown out of proportion by the media.”

“The Nigeria Army wishes to state that there was an attempted attack on troops at Kwakwa and Chingori communities in Bama area of Borno State by suspected Boko Haram Terrorists as a result of difficult terrain where our vehicles bugged down.
