Kenyan authorities have arrested three persons over the illegal trafficking of underage girls from Nepal.

The 21 girls were brought into Kenya to work in night clubs by their traffickers.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya confirmed the arrests on its twitter account.

It said the minors were working illegally in the nightclubs and were being exploited by owners of the clubs.

The DCI says, “Detectives from the DCI Anti-Human Trafficking & Child Protection Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit raided two clubs in Mogotio Road, Westlands.”

It further said officials during the raid “rescued 21 Nepalese girls who had been trafficked to Kenya for exploitation”.

“Three perpetrators were arrested and will be charged for various offences under the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act” DCI said.

It is not yet clear what will happen to those rescued and when they will be repatriating to Nepal.
