Born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta, Ashanti Region, Daddy Lumba rose to prominence in 1989.Over a stellar career spanning four decades, he released over 30 albums, with one featuring featured in King Charles III’s Commonwealth Day Playlist in 2025.

President John Dramani Mahama led national tributes to the fallen icon. “Ghana has lost a cultural giant,” the President said in a statement. “Daddy Lumba’s music shaped our collective memory. His legacy will echo through the ages.”

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo has also described him as a pantheon among musical greats of all‑time.

Social media has since flooded with tributes from fans, musicians, and public figures. From highlife legends to younger Afrobeats stars, many hailed Lumba’s influence and originality.
