The United Nations office in Ghana has disassociated itself from an award scheme purported to be associated with the United Nations and the Kofi Annan Foundation.
It follows the public mockery of some distinguished personalities including musicians, politicians and a vice Chancellor who received the awards from the Blueprint Mission.
In a statement, the UN office stated categorically that the UN, neither in Ghana, nor anywhere else, had any affiliation with the Blueprint Global Challenge Awards, nor with the organization (Blueprint Mission), nor its personnel in any way, shape or form.
The statement said that UN Information Centre follows strict rules, notices and procedures in disseminating information.
The organizer Kwame Fodjour claims he has the mandate to reward deserving citizens who have distinguished themselves in various fields to honour the memory of former UN boss Kofi Annan.
But further checks have revealed that the awards were fake. It has also emerged that the UN is not affiliated to the award organizers.
Some Ghanaians have taken to social media to troll the award winners for not doing due diligence.

I was reading one citation in honour of the creator of the fake UN awards . I couldn’t understand a single sentence. Grammar sounded as though it was constructed by someone severely worried upstairs.
