Kenyans on Thursday cast their votes to choose a new president in an election that was boycotted by the opposition political party.

Supporters of the opposition Nasa party also clashed with police in strong holds of the opposition resulting in the death of one person after he was shot at.

Local media reported that protesters clashed with police in the western city of Kisumu as opposition supporters attempted stopping Thursday’s elections.

Security is tight around the country to prevent clashes after Mr. Odinga urged his supporters to stage street protest over Thursday’s vote.

The Supreme Court of Kenya ordered fresh election after nullifying the August 8 presidential election results.
