Kenya’s Kenyatta to meet Trump at White House

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta will be visiting the US later this month.

He is expected to be hosted by US President Donald Trump at the White House.

In a statement the US press secretary said “President Donald J. Trump will welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to the White House on August 27, 2018.”

“The meeting between the two leaders will reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the United States and Kenya as a cornerstone of peace and stability in Africa and the broader Indo-Pacific region,” the statement added.

The statement also noted that “Kenya is a vital partner of the United States, and President Trump looks forward to discussing ways to broaden the strategic partnership based on our shared democratic values and mutual interests.”

The two leaders according to the statement “will explore ways to bolster trade and investment between the two countries, while strengthening security cooperation.”

President Kenyatta will be the third African leader to meet President Trump at the White House.

The US President has already welcomed the presidents of Egypt and Nigeria to the White House.

Former US president, Barack Obama was born to a Kenyan father and recently visited the East African country.
