Former President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe is reportedly very sick and unable to walk. The ex-leader is currently in Singapore for medical treatment.
Mr. Mugabe who has frequently visited Singapore for medical treatment was forced out of power in 2017.
He was replaced by current President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa has since won a presidential election in July this year to now serve his full five year term.
President Mnangagwa told his supporters at a rally that his former boss is very sick and unable to move around.
“He is now old. Of course, he now is unable to walk but whatever he asks for we will provide. We are looking after him. He is the founding father of the nation of Zimbabwe. He is our founding father of free Zimbabwe,” he said.
Mr. Mnangagwa also revealed that Mugabe is however expected back into the country by end of this month.
“He should have been back on October 25 but his health was not yet good. But yesterday we got a message that he thinks he is getting better. He will come back on 30 November,” Mnangagwa told the rally.
94-year old Mugabe was unhappy with the manner in which he was forced out of power. He refused to support Mnangagwa before the elections in July.
But weeks later Mugabe said following the electoral process, he can no longer dispute Mnangagwa’s legitimacy.
Mr. Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for over three decades after leading them to independence in 1980 from British colonial rule.
