IMF Boss Christine Largarde begins tour of Africa

Fred Dzakpata is a Ghanaian journalist who specializes in business reporting in Africa.

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Largarde is beginning a two day working visit to Ghana on Monday.

She will hold talks with Ghana’s President Nana Akuffo-Addo and also participate in the Future of Work in sub-Saharan Africa Conference.

The objective of the conference is to generate a debate on the future of work in sub-Saharan Africa. It will also look at policies required to create jobs for the continent’s growing population.

Madam Largarde as part of the visit will meet with some Ghanaian women entrepreneurs who are excelling in their areas of endeavor.

Her visit comes ahead of Ghana’s exit from the three year International Monetary Fund programme which was extended for another.

She will on Tuesday depart Accra to Johannesburg for the continuation of her four nation tour of the continent.

The Fund in 2017 approved a three year extended programme worth 918 million dollars to help revive the economy of Ghana.

Ghana recently went up from 120 to 114 in the latest World Bank ease of Doing Business Report released in October.
