Police in Egypt have killed about 40 terrorists a day after a bus carrying tourists was attacked in Giza.
The militants were killed in separate operations in North Sinai and Giza, according to Egypt’s ministry of interior.
The ministry said on Saturday, that 30 militants were killed during raids on their hideouts in Giza where Friday’s attack on the bus took place.
It said these “terrorist elements” had been planning series of attacks targeting state institutions and tourists.
Another 10 militants were also killed in North Sinai. North Sinai is a region Egyptian security forces continue to battle with militants.
These militants were all killed according to local media during gun battle.
On Friday three tourists from Vietnam and their Egyptian tour guide were killed after a bomb went off on a roadside in Egypt’s Giza region.
At least twelve people were also reported injured in the blast near the Giza Pyramids on Friday.
Egyptian officials say the victims were in a bus traveling on Friday in the Marioutiyah area near the pyramids when the roadside bomb went off.
It is unclear if these militants killed by Egyptian police officers were linked to Friday’s attack.
