Ghana targets $2 bn investment by hosting climate event

Ghana is targeting over $2 billion in terms of investment by hosting the Africa Climate week in March.

The Ghanaian government hopes to use the funds to address the effect of climate change in the country.

The week-long event will take place in Ghana’s capital Accra from March 18 to 22 on theme “Climate Action in Africa: A Race We Can Win”.

It will attract over thousand participants across the world who will be deliberating on reducing emissions from industries.

Ghana’s Minister of Environment Science and Technology, Professor Frimpong Boateng told Africafeeds.com the forum will also serve as a platform for Ghana to project it’s Climate change agenda.

The 2019 Africa Climate Week will serve as a lead-up to the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit in September this year.

The event will also bring together diverse actors from the public and private sectors.

Priority will be on showcasing the role of future carbon markets to enhance action towards the goal of sustainable development.

The Africa Climate Week is the first of three annual regional climate week events this year.

The other two are the Latin America & Caribbean Climate Week and the Asia Pacific Climate Week.
