Founder of Nigeria’s Gokada found murdered in New York

Top tech entrepreneur, Fahim Saleh who is the founder of Gokada, one of Nigeria’s ride-hailing motorcycle services, has been found dead.

The 33-year-old millionaire was found murdered in a Manhattan apartment by the police in the US city of New York.

According to Police his body was reportedly found by his sister on Tuesday.

Police said his body was decapitated and dismembered, while an electric saw was found in the vicinity.

He was last seen in CCTV footage on Monday afternoon around 1:40 pm when he entered his building’s elevator.

The footage showed him getting into the elevator and he was quickly followed quickly by a second man dressed in a suit.

This man was spotted wearing gloves, a hat, and a mask over his face.

Mr Saleh started the Gokada business in the commercial hub of Lagos, in 2018.

His initiative brought some vigour to the digitization of the city’s motorcycle shuttle business.

In 2019 his start-up raised $5.3m in venture capital.

When in February 2020, the Lagos State government restricted the operation of motorcycle ride-share services his company decided to convert its fleet of motorcycles to use for logistics services.

There have been reactions to his death on social across the world.
