Kenya: Wreckage of missing plane found

Kenyan officials have said that the wreckage of the passenger plane that went missing on Tuesday has been found.

Fly Sax, the operator of the flight revealed that eight passengers and two crew members were on-board the plane.

How it happened

The plane lost contact with control towers just minutes ahead of scheduled landing at Jomo Kenyatta International airport in Nairobi.

The flight was flying from Kitale, a farming town in the west to the capital before its disappearance.

An ministry of transport official, Paul Maringa told reporters that “A ground team of military specialists in mountain rescue operations has been dispatched to the site.”

Maringa said the the wreckage of the plane was found on a densely forested cliff on the mountain.


Fate of passengers

The fate of those board the flight is still unknown as well as the cause of the crash. But local television channels broadcast pictures of the destroyed plane.

Bad weather hampered initial search efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday with officials hoping to have further details coming out in the coming days.
