The Monarch of Morocco, King Mohammed VI has successfully undergone a heart surgery, his health team announced.
The King’s medical team said the operation happened on Sunday at the clinic of the Royal Palace in Rabat.
Mohammed VI had to go for the transplant after a “recurrence of heart rhythm disorder such as atrial flutter,” his medical team said.
In a statement his medical team said Mohammed VI’s doctors recommended an additional radiofrequency ablation, which took place on Sunday.
The 56-year-old monarch was said to have had a “complementary ablation by radiofrequency”, which now ensures “complete success” with “restoration of normal heart rhythm.”
According to the statement “the intervention was like the previous one carried out on February 26, 2018 in Paris, with restoration of the normal heart rhythm.”
Last year the monarch of Morocco also suffered a viral lung infection and was made to take a long rest to recover.
King Mohammed is the leader of the Muslim world’s longest-ruling dynasty after he was crowned in 1999.
He succeeded his father, King Hassan II, who died of a heart attack.
King Mohammed recently led his country back to the African Union after years of absence from the continental body.
Mohammed VI is worth some $5.7 billion, according to Forbes. His “wealth comes mostly from investments.”
King Mohammed VI “controls Moroccan investment holding company Societe Nationale d’Investissement,” whose assets are estimated to be worth more than $9 billion.
The Moroccan King also has investments in the financial, mining, telecommunications, and distribution sectors.
Mohammed represents the supreme authority in Morocco.
